An excellent piece!

I knew this at 16, at 24, and now at 30, I still do not regret my conviction. :)

Every time I have said this statement aloud, I have received blank stares, judgemental looks, and statements like "Oh, you are too young to know this. You will change your mind when the time comes" in return.

I, too, have never heard a woman in real life say this out loud, probably because we don't want to give people/society yet another reason to judge us.

Thank you for owning your choice and writing this brave piece. You are absolutely right; we need to have this conversation.
