When people who I know, like my parent's for example, celebrate their 30 something wedding anniversary, I itch to type, "Congratulations! You made it through one more year without killing each other."

That is most definitely an achievement given the state of your marriage.

Couples and we as a collectivistic society, need to stop finding new things to celebrate and focus on figuring out how to lead our actual, real lives.

In my opinion, that is infinitely more rewarding than a faux drunken get-together.
